Hi everyone. I need some advice. I have started a new role and I was assigned a buddy. She’s a WW and we are technically on the same level but in different semi-related functions. The issue here is on my friend meeting with her she cut me off a few times, asked me and extensive questions about my previous work experience. It give me a weird vibe. She seemed friendly when we spoke via zoom but in person it was different.

I wouldn’t think too much into it at first. Some people are annoying and don’t know what else to talk about besides work and achievements the first time around. They don’t know asking about career achievements is less socially acceptable these days. They also may be impressed by your past work.

I wouldn’t reveal too much and keep it to small chatting while just listening to them talk. Things will reveal itself overtime.

If it happens again, speak up when you’re interrupted “I was still speaking.”

Don’t apologize.

Don’t give it too much thought. Just file it away. But also, keep it work only. Avoid sharing anything personal.

She may be socially awkward and trying to fill every moment with stupid questions

like

Hmm.. I wonder if it was just an off day for her? I'd try not to read into it or assume the worst. Just be confident in YOU and don't worry about whether or not she meant anything with those questions. You can't know what's in someone else's mind and most times our imaginations make up worse scenarios than the truth

like

Yeah it's annoying that she would do that, but it's also possible that she's just trying to figure out what your previous experience has been, not that she's doubting your skill/qualification level

like

Ehhh, some people are terrible at making a good first impression, I wouldn't write them off just yet. Give it a couple of weeks and see if you notice any patterns.

like

I wouldn’t write her off just but I wouldn’t dismiss how you feel.

Thank you

Busy season was rough, things are looking better now as things return to normal. Still working crazy hours if you count the daycare duties on top of utilization targets.

Hello 🐠ies!
Asking for help, my sister has lived at my paren’ for 24 y and they’ve always taken care of her. She’s about to leave home for her grad and she just got a loan to pay for all her expenses for the next 3 y. The money only arrived 3 w ago. She hasn’t even left yet and my parents have noticed online deliveries and spending receipts. We are worried that she might empty her account by year 1 at that rate. But just telling her to be careful doesn’t help. Cont’d

I’m a new analyst at a PE firm, and my associate keeps blaming me for things she does wrong. Like she will tell me I made the wrong change, even though she is the one who changed it. How can I handle this situation without making her mad but also not letting her step all over me?

Finding a good one has been hard, as this kind of thing isn’t always required to be filed with the sec and every search I’ve done basically pulls up garbage. Also, are there any provisions you’d consider absolutely crucial from the owner’s side?
