I'm considering hiring someone who may be required to have a series 65. How long should it take someone who is (a) smart & (b) no industry knowledge to study and pass?

I networked with VCs and one of them was receptive but didn't have the budget currently for a full time hire. I have been a practicing (patent prosecution) lawyer in different firms for about 20 years. I would love to do something more creative but still techie (computers, telecom, apps, etc.).
