Hi folks - we're a small company just under 100 people almost evenly split between employees and consultants across North America and APAC. We're looking to implement a new HR system that we can start to leverage for onboarding, comp & benefits, payroll (pay slips/tax), reporting capabilities etc. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance! :)

Workday?

The three biggest ones most suitable for 100 employees are Insperity, Justworks, and TriNet. We demoed all of them in my previous company and found that TriNet had the most useful features, support, and reporting. Bigger ones like UKG and Workday are likely too expensive for smaller firms and mot really worth the price.

Have you ever lied about your salary? Because friends were making more or less? I told my partner I made a certain amount when we were just friends but now we're seriously dating and I can't keep up with pretending I'm making 270k. I'm barely netting 80k. Should I come clean? Or try and find a job that would give me more?

I’m eligible for 401k %match from my employer on aug 1 2021. The max total amount I could get from them for 2021 is ~$420. I plan on maxing out & my 401k has an aggressive strategy. Would you wait to contribute until later in the year in order to maximize the match, or invest early in the year for the compound interest gains? Am I wrong to think the latter?

How to get out of valuation/risk role in Big 4 to investment role at buy side? Possible?

Question. I have an older friend who was newly contracted through an off brand firm who lost their contract for the NCS. They are offering him a transfer to the winner of the contract, but for a lesser salary (they said he's too expensive). They said he could also instead transfer to an independent contractor, for a 30-35% increase in salary, but no benefits or paid leave etc. Hourly salary, but much higher wage as a trade off. He's nearing retirement and doesn't care as much about benefits.

I’m current an S1 in corporate tax for a Top 10. I had an interview with a Big 4 for a tax technology position, but didn’t get in. I’m heartbroken because it was my dream job. 😅Everyone I spoke to seemed to like my experience and the recruiter said the team liked me as well, but they didn’t offer any feedback. Any advice on software or certifications I should get to help me get into tax technology and tax transformation? I’d really appreciate it - thank you for hearing me out!

I’m a junior attorney at a boutique transactional firm. It’s a pretty small office and I only started in April. I’m having drinks with my mentor — a female partner — this week and I want to have a frank conversation about compensation. I know I’d benefit a lot from knowing her salary, how much she works, how much business development she does, what she brings in from profit sharing, etc. I always share this info when asked but still… Any suggestions on how to tactfully ask about this?

Is there any time of the year where you can leave the firm and not be "burning a bridge" or "letting people down"? If you leave during November/December you're leaving the firm scrambling for planning/busy season. If you leave during the summer you're leaving the firm scrambling for fall busy season. I think the only acceptable windows are Apr15 - May15. Not me personally, just curious on thoughts.

When you’re interviewing at a law firm, when is it typical to learn the salary? If they want to extend an offer, how do these conversations usually happen?
