D does not offer pre-delivery time off unless you decide to take PTO (would have to work that out with your project team). Also, the first 5 days of your short-term disability have to be PTO (starts w/delivery or when you go out). As D1 said, STD is either 6 wks (vaginal birth) or 8 wks (C-section) followed by 16 weeks of parental leave, not FMLA. This is an important distinction - FMLA runs concurrently but is only 12 weeks and is tied to job protection. You are also only eligible for the FMLA benefit portion if you’ve been with D for over 12 months, even though you can take leave right away.
