Hi! I've been in childcare for over 17 years now, and I'm beyond burnt out. Any other nannies or early education professionals here who changed careers and found something they love? I don't have a Bachelor's degree, but I know I have a ton of transferable skills. I'm on the job hunt and just wondering where other childcare professionals have found work they enjoy and where they can use some of the same skills, just outside a classroom or private family home. I’m moving to new state (Indiana from South Carolina) and and going to a 6th grade position. Any suggestions for must have things for a 6th grade gen ed classroom?

What do you do when you need a sub? What kinds of plans work best for subs in the Spanish classroom? I have needed subs lately and have found it hard to plan lessons that aren’t just busy work.

Good Evening My Fellow Christian Educators! I realize it is going to be challenging for me this year...with so many of my students performing below grade level expectations in ELA and MATH and also ensuring that all students follow the COVID Guidelines in the classroom. I teach 4th grade at a Christian school. I have been teaching for over 30 years but I have been at this school for 2 years. Since I have been working at this school it seems like everything I do in my classroom it's something wrong with it according to my supervisor. Recently, I was told that I am not getting a new contract for the new school year. I have to find a new school. I was told that I am not a good fit for the school.

Has anyone used wordcraft in their classroom?

I’ve been daydreaming of a community loom in the school or classroom. Has anyone done this or have any tips? I’m wondering if people will want to participate or take the materials and “redecorate””.

Our school uses Foss Kits for Science and I was told when students return, we will need to sanitize all items before and after each use. This doesn’t seem possible in a middle school setting where each period has a 4 minute break and 25 students in each period. What do you do in your classroom to minimize the amount of work needed to clean and sanitize items. I don’t want to short change the students’ hands-on experiences.

One of my top talents just put in his two weeks notice and I had nothing to offer him to stay. I told upper management this was going to happen! I’ve spent months asking for a promotion for him, trying to push his career forward and got no traction. I know i did my best. He knows i tried. Anyone have any friends who successfully pivoted out of advertising? I know a handful of people who are half-trying to, but I can’t think of anyone who has made a clean break, on their own terms, into something that appears to be making them feel more fulfilled than they were in the ad biz. I’ve been an insurance defense attorney for 10+ years and am feeling completely drained, for all the standard reasons. I’m ready to make a move away from insurance defense but I’m not 100% sure where to begin. I am also considering leaving the law entirely but again am not sure what fields to look into or how to approach this type of search. If you’ve made this move before, how did you do it? For the people who earned the SHRM-CP, did you feel it was worth it? I have an indirect HR position, been applying for more HR focused positions and wondering if this would help.
