$400k but we bought when rates were <3%. I honestly don’t know how we’ll ever afford to move. We don’t feel house poor but I don’t think I realized how much maintenance/upkeep costs before buying especially since we purchased a fixer upper. We’re in Mt Washington and absolutely love our neighborhood.
3 bed 2 bath in South LA, just outside of Inglewood. HHI ~$425k. Bought in 2021 and have a 2.8% rate. Would eventually like to move to a better neighborhood and bigger house but current rates make that very difficult. Currently we’re exploring adding on to our house to make it a 5 bed 3 bath (6000 sqft lot but only 1200 sqft house w/ big backyard)
HHI is around 500K between my husband and I with 1 baby. Sadly, I still don’t think that’s enough in LA. 🥹 especially in the areas we are looking at - Pasadena, Los Feliz, Eagle Rock
Yes anywhere that’s not the west side basically lol
280k (my husband doesn't make much) no kids. Silverlake. But we bought in 2021 with a 3% interest rate and our home value has gone up about 65%, so I feel good about it.
wow what a dream
We’re shopping now, and at close to 400K with no kids.
Around $400K before bonus and around $500K after bonus (not always a guarantee though), no kids.
$300k, but we bought in 2020 with a 2.9% interest rate. In South Central LA. No kids.
Same here and it's not looking great.

I felt house poor when I first bought but that lasted about a year until I made slightly more. Now I love my low rate and low mortgage.
$600k, just bought in pasadena...thought our money would go farther than it did

Do any of you feel “house poor”?
@M1 I’m currently paying about $4300/month for a nanny. Feels ludicrous but the nanny is great and considering this is her FT job it makes sense. We’ll likely go day care eventually and I think that’ll be around $1800-$2000/month
What about Van Nuys? that’s where I bought my first house. There a lot available under $1M. It’s not Pasadena or South Bay and we moved before our kids were in school but it was fine.
$500k, westside, 2 kids under 5 (daycare is killing us..)
Wow. Where in LA? I’m east and it’s $800K+.
Whoops. I misunderstood. Haha. My bad. I don’t even know what HHI is. Y’all are rich.
