PwC has provisionally cleared me to join the firm first week of Jan. What does this mean? Can I start working with them even if the background check is still running in parallel? Can I quit my current job and expect everything to be cool? They said it's taking them longer to verify education and previous employment. Both of which are international.

I’m in year 41. It is still a passion. I believe that I am on this earth to teach and save my students’ lives by educating them.
Left HS wanting to teach music and not taking over my father’s business. Felt it as a calling. Finished college and taught music for 30 years. Cuts due to COVID luckily forced me into working with and managing virtual, at-risk, and credit recovery students which has reinvigorated and extended my career. I’ve had job offers outside of the classroom, but they just never seemed “right.” And someday I will proudly wear the badge “Retired Teacher.”
From the age of 9, I held school in my family’s garage during the summer. I made up practice sheets and had assignments prepared for students younger than myself. They were very basic, but you get the idea. When I went to college, for some reason I went Pre-law, probably because I enjoy reading. I quickly changed to education after a year. After 27 years in the classroom I recently retired. I can’t imagine myself in a profession other than teaching. I loved it and I felt like I made a difference. I think it would be so hard being a teacher and not having a passion for it. Life is not a “do over.” Find your passion and pursue it!
I always wanted to be a teacher.
I kinda fell in it as well - I had NO desire to teach - I was quiet and didn’t like public speaking - but I did enjoy math in high school. I remember my aunt telling me during my freshman year of college that I should either become a nurse or a teacher since no one in the family was. Long story short - I chose teaching. It was never a passion.
Long story short- my brother died when I was 6, and my father was a professor in special education. I was a terrible student, but loved underdogs- so I began a career in special education. Now at the end of my career I believe we’ll be like industrial arts- a forgotten program
I'm surprised you think special education is going to decline. It is often the largest department in high schools in the Chicago area. It is a legal mandate if a school wants any federal funding.
I took care of my siblings growing up and also my neighbors kids. My mom was never around so I got mom duty starting at age 11. I’ve always loved kids and wanted to be the person kids could go to for anything. I want to be the change in a child’s life. I work at a daycare as a lead toddler teacher but sometimes work with preschool and the after school kids as well. I’ve heard lots of bad things from these kids and it breaks my heart but I’m happy to know they can come to me.
