When will I gain the skills necessary to be a senior? I’m coming up on my A2 year and I literally feel like a huge dunce. Can’t imagine taking on senior responsibilities. (audit btw)

I’m a first year that’s inching toward second year. Partners in my group say “sometimes getting thrown into the deep end is the best way to learn.” However, I feel so lost. I feel like saying the above is just an excuse for not wanting to take the time to actually teach new associates.

When should a stub start getting worried about not having much work and low billable hours?
I’ve asked for work but no luck. I know they say this is normal for a stub but when should I start getting worried and consider looking for exit options? Fyi, I like my practice group, so I don’t want to change to a different group within my firm, hence would have to lateral, if I have to. Also, other co-1st years are churning in high hours.

Existing employees with 20 years exp working on presales consulting, winning millions of dollars of projects in RFPs, delivering multi million dollar assignments are still not getting promoted and paid in peanuts

T3 firm reached out re: direct admit to the partnership with some runway to grow the practice. I am at a firm now where there aren’t bright line metrics to make PPMD, but think I could make it in 2-5 years. This would be a step down in brand, but might be better from a WLB and getting to start at partner. Haven’t had firm comp talks yet but range was well north of 50% increase in cash comp from current (plus LT equity, draws, etc). Anyone take $ over brand? what are some traps to watch for?

Looking for a PwC referral. My current company has been great but we were acquired by a start up PE firm a year ago and I feel like the acquisition is starting to hinder my growth. I have 3 years experience in strategic sourcing and procurement transformation, initially starting as an intern. I want to continue advancing my career but feel stuck. I got a promotion a year and 3 months ago, and got a pay raise 5 months ago. Could I still ask for a promotion to SAE if I have been supporting a team more as one? Promotions are hard to stab with.
