It's the same. The brand and access to the c suite is better at MBB but the work is essentially the same. - said the seasoned partner who has done both...
PMI / Tech is the same anywhere. Try your local strategy group before trying to jump ship.
It's different, strategy work is generally more intellectually challenging and require more analytics. I think you should definitely try strategy work if you are bored now. I'm so bored with PMO in MC.
MBA hire if that helps.
One year out of B school.
@M2 could you explain to me how strategy requires more analytics? I have been always on the confused side about strategy work..basically you guys are creating something from nothing, envisioning something that is going to happen, which can be awesome..or a total flop based on a complete bs. Please enlighten me, thx!
The work can only be the same insofar as the type of work is the same. A strategy project is not the same as an IT audit project. MBB sells more strategy work than IT audit work. It must be different.
Ac1: no one here is talking about IT audit... just fyi
(Was an exaggeration, but my point is that consulting spans a wide variety of areas and I would imagine the work sold is not the same across)
That's a weird exaggeration to make when IT audit and IT implementations are two very different things. If a client acquired another firm with a different IT architecture and needs consultants, I don't anticipate IT tech implementation being any different in MBB vs big 4. But if it's other areas that are more aug type work then sure, that doesn't exist in MBB. It's more so about scope than nature of delivery in my opinion.
