Any walk-in interviews in Pune? Please Help
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

So, if it’s a deal-breaker for you, then you have nothing to lose by asking about it explicitly. If they don’t believe in WFH or if it changes their opinion of you, then that wasn’t the right place for you.
What I would say is something along the lines of: “Sometimes it really helps me productively and personally to work from home. What are the attitudes toward that here?"
Recently made a jump and am feeling a bit duped. Outwardly, the WFH policy seemed generous. Some key interviewers even volunteered up the fact that they WFH twice a week during my later interviews. Hired and come to find in particular *my* manager “doesn’t believe in working from home.” I have high anxiety and sometimes depend on these productive days at home. How can I avoid a similar situation in the future?
Hindsight is 20/20 right? Obviously in this case it would have been nice to ask if there is a formal WFH policy or if it's up to the manager, and then find out what the manager's is. It's hard to get all those details out in the interview process but you've really gotta nail down the ones that are important to you.
I asked about flexible hours and leaving early some days for personal issues in my last round and HR made sure I got buyoff from the department lead.
You may have to explicitly ask for it in future if you consider yourself as having a disability that requires it. But you will lose opportunities. You can make the call on if you want to do that.
