It's inappropriate in the workplace. I'm Christian too, but I'm respectful enough of others' beliefs not to loudly tout my own. There's no real way to stop people like that unfortunately, so just ignore them.
Me "Thank god!"
Religious person "yes thank him in all his glory"
Me "yeah last night I probably created some LBJs ya know, little baby Jesuses, and just got a text she's on the pill"
Religious person "....."
Me "hope the stds are clear. Will you pray with me"
Start quoting the Quran and have mandatory group salat
D1 lighten up bruh
LOL D1 wtf
What's uncomfortable about that? Folks drop F bombs all the time and lots of 'bad words' which should make you uncomfortable. Saying something nice about God shouldn't
Not ashamed to acknowledge God....I love that!
Ask him/her how the 36 people who died in the Turkey bombings earlier this week fit into "his plan."
Lol! Oh my fucking God.
LMAO @ EY1 - from a Muslim
Religious conversations are so awfully shitty. Let's talk about anal or something
D1. No it's not. EY1's post is pointing out the hypocrisy of majority group's religious declarations are tolerated but not minority groups, especially Muslims. I think you took it too far. - Am lapsed Muslim.
D1, I repeat, LOL wtf
Address it directly but be respectful. If that doesn't work, give him or her the dirty glare to realize they said something to make you uncomfortable.
A1 - there's nothing in the labor codes against swearing. There is about religion in the workplace. See Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 regarding religion-based discrimination. If an MD or Senior Manager we're going on about God it could be seen as trying to influence other people's faith. I really hope you understand he difference between swearing and faith based declaration, otherwise I hope you leave the company before we lose a client or get sued because you're ignorant of workplace norms.
I'd start making jokes hard and fast
Omg you all suck. Religion is science for idiots
Agree with A1. It's okay for everyone to swear, which makes me feel uncomfortable as a Christian, although I say nothing about it and I let it be. I don't talk about God much at work, but if I did, there should be 'tolerance' for me, as I'm tolerant of my coworkers who lead very different lives than I do and I put up with filthy language. Also, side note about cursing, it's super unattractive in general and shows lack of sophistication in my opinion.
EY1: That was racist and ignorant. What is that supposed to mean? Muslims, Jews and Christians believe in the same God. Allah means God in Arabic. It is sad to see someone who made it that far in their career yet so ignorant. The person who the OP referenced might be Muslim. I really feel bad for EY and the clients you serve. Please go and read about other cultures before you open your mouth.
Religion is the opiate of the masses.
