How do you feel about about the erosion of your foreign Purchasing Power in the last 12-36 months?

USD to EUR hit a high of 1.03 in September of 22 and has fallen to 0.83 in just over three years.

Similar picture for another currency: USD to THB hit a high of 38.01 in Oct of 22 and is now trading at 30.92.

The current administration is certainly doing its best to destroy the dollar.

They still have local costs they need to pay in local currency and need highlight these fluctuations in their investor communications.

Microsoft just announced a price reduction for clients with EUR based contracts, so this needs to be reflected as well.

If you look at historic rates, we are currently well within the normal range, 2022 was an all time high.
So I view at as a normal reversion.

And my non-US index funds are finally performing better!

Unfortunate with some euro denominated expenses this year. Transferring some money to euros. But I am in a dual national household with assets in dollars and euros. We are moving to Europe for a few years.

Also realistically what is the impact?
Flights (and oil) are generally priced in USD.

Perhaps you were spending $10k a year on hotels and activities in 2022 at an all-time great rate, now it’s $12k?
Not life altering.

I don't have to go to countries where those currencies are involved. I travel to India occasionally and send money and send money there. The INR has weakened quite a bit against the USD.

INR, JPY and TRY are still attractive for Americans due to local circumstances. But the overall picture for the dollar is prolonged weakening, evidenced by other reserve currencies like GBP or CHF.

Feeling glad I don’t have any personal international travel coming up soon!

I have a 2 month old at home who is influencing my short term international travel preferences 😉

Annoyed that I have a spring break trip to Euro part of the world. Glad I prepaid the hotels a few months back.

My current Fixed CTC in Citi is 26.5 excluding PF and Retrials and HSBC IT has offered me 30.5 for the same and said they cannot increase further as am moving jobs in after 9 months which is too early..
