I like YNAB. I never thought I’d pay $84/year for an budgeting app when free ones exist, but here we are. I think YNAB is way better than Mint and others.

YNAB crushes the competition which is the reason they can charge $80/year for it. I’ve never had a better handle on my finances than the past year and it was perfectly timed, since I sold and bought a house. Seeing my entire financial picture laid out during those tumultuous months was great as it helped me realize what we were buying we could truly afford.

Want to start saving/investing from this year. Got £11K and will have £2K a month to invest - any recommendations? I don’t want to take crazy risks, somewhere where this is steady long term growth. Have already maxed out pension and I assume next step is maxing out ISA? After that, what is best? (From UK)

We are looking to move to Dallas and thinking of buying a house ~996K with a 15% down. Questions -
1. Should we go for house of that budget? We can afford, but asking based on market.
2. Should we down 15% or just 5% ? Or go for 20% ?

Would love to get insight from folks here as I’m not quite sure what to do. I currently have around 14K in student loan debt and enough saved up to pay it off in one fell swoop. What I’m struggling with is whether I should invest that money into the stock market (thinking less risky S&P 500 ETF) and pay off my student loans monthly with the average payment being around 1000 so I can pay it off in about 16-18 months (due to interest being around 5%) or pay it off all in one go?

I am doing a back door Roth IRA through Vanguard and while everything makes sense to me, I am unsure if an additional $6000 be invested for a non working spouse. We satisfy the criteria but two questions - 1) Is this still valid I.e., $12k can be invested for 2021? And 2) Any insight into how this is done - Vanguard doesn’t let me add more than $6k as it’s above the individual limit. I tried searching the bowl for specific answers but wasn’t successful. Inputs appreciated.

Is it too late in our lives to jump into a mortgage?

So my fiancée and I are relatively late in terms of finally landing well paying jobs and being able to save money instead of living paycheck to paycheck. We’re both 36 and currently rent a 2 bedroom in NY and have a combined savings of $35,000 which she wants to use as a down payment on a condo. I kinda just wanna continue saving while renting. I also literally just started contributing to my 401K so I’m also late in the game for that too.
