Hmmm I always had wrestling 🤼♀️ when I started in a new company.
My biggest one was with the oldest engineer (50yrs+), he was very mean and could almost feel at time condescend. I think everytime I play the confrontation game I lost, so I decided to try to understand him more and book a bit of time aside.
Turns out he just wanted to feel heard and to have a bit of attention, we end up really good colleagues and he would always support me in stakeholders meeting.
Sometimes people can seem to be a certain way and turn out they are not.
If it’s the boys club? I never seen this anywhere else than on the senior stakeholder ( business side), type ex tech who think too high of themselves.
I love that it ended in a friendship but sorry it was rough at the beginning!
I just keep pushing forward. I don't have the time or energy to educate ignorant colleagues about equality. Ignore them and just keep being you.
Honestly, I ignore them. As long as I have been in this field there have been and probably always will be men like this. I try not to stroke their ego and just don't let it get to me.
Remind myself that they go home to play video games alone.
They're not worth your time so don't pay him any mind. Just keep doing you to prove them wrong. Preserve your energy.
