How do you suss out an in-house role? Would terms like “fast paced” and “self starter” be red or yellow flags? Frankly don’t want to work law firm hours if I’m not getting paid a law firm salary

Those would be red flags.

It depends. At my co the life style is pretty good. There is sometimes night/weekend work, but it’s rare. On average (there are much busier weeks obviously) I probably work 20 hours).

When interviewing folks, I still describe the job as fast paced and looking for a self-starter though — because IMO those are valuable skills. I don’t want to have to micro manage; and I want someone that can take the pressure when things heat up.

One question you might considering asking if you have a family is how flexible they are when kid stuff comes up — I’ve found that’s a decent window into more “real” lifestyle feedback.

Currently a big 4 consultant and got an offer from FAANG for a strategy and ops role that would bring my total comp up 60%. I’m really grateful for the offer and really excited, however, I am also interviewing with MBB. It has always been a goal of mine to work for tier 1 strategy firm as I’ve always felt on the outside looking in at big4. I feel like most exit ops from strategy would be S&O industry roles but still can’t get these MBB firms out of my mind. Am I just overthinking this?

Hi! I’ve been approached by Securonix for a Sales Director role in NA. I know the field and their competitors. The pay is good but I’ve seen a handful of websites with employee rating that is really bad. Each site has roughly 10 reviews but most are negative. Mostly referring to toxic culture and zero work life balance. How true is this in this sales org and the company in general? This is a backfill role after a 3 year tenure for the person who left.
