It can be tough to maintain your mental health when working in this industry. The hours are long, the pay is low, and the work can be draining. It can be easy to feel like you're not good enough, or like you're not doing enough.
I make it a priority to take time for myself and for my family. If I'm off-duty, I'm not replying to texts or answering phone calls. I don't need anyone bugging me when I'm trying to enjoy myself.
Don't forget to take care of yourself. Make sure you get enough sleep, eat well, and take time for yourself. Don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it. There are plenty of people who are happy to listen and offer support.
I usually take off work when my days off come, that is, I enjoy my beautiful wife and my family, I don't answer calls from the station, it's just me and my family.
In addition to being a police officer, I am a swimmer, I am not a professional but if I try to always be on the move and occupy my mind with other things, I go to the gym and swim, my mind and body remain active and thus my mental health is always it is stable.
