How do you WFH-only people socialize outside of work? I'm starting a new WFH-only job and am realizing that the bulk of my week will be me alone in my home office. I'm introverted but still would want to socialize and meet people occasionally.

I usually satisfy my need for social interaction on a quarterly basis where I get a hair cut and just brain dump my entire life story to the barber / stylist.

Lotta options, see below

IRL
-Pick a local cafe to get coffee/tea
-Go for walks in your neighborhood
-Pick a local bar/club/restaurant to visit
-Hangout with friends and family after work

Online
-Social Media
-Dating apps (pro tip: you can use it to make friends not just date)

Interest oriented
-join/organize hobbyist or nonprofit groups

Work oriented
-set up weekly time blocks or 1:1s to meet and chat with your colleagues

Don’t confuse “work” with “social interaction.” Be home and working all day, and make plans to do things with friends & family in the evenings. You’ll be amazed at how much more work you can get done when you’re not wasting “work time” having water-cooler chats & such. Meet up with a friend for lunch once a week. Go out and get coffee in the morning.

Yup this. If anything, I now have more time to socialize since I’m not wasting away hours of my day commuting.

Im starting a new job but still employed somewhere else. I was trying to be open about staying at BOTH places. My current job won’t let me be part time because they don’t allow “set schedules”. Yet I am one of the only reliable and loyal employees in the department, and currently working a set schedule. So why will they not let me continue a set schedule but with different hours? This place is more focused on strict policies and not actually trying to work their employees and being flexible.

Received an offer as Engagement Director from Salesforce (CSG, pre sales, L9). Great benefits package, 40% increase in total comp and better WLB.

I do love the people in my practice and current client, but career trajectory has stalled after taking parental leave earlier this year and (yet another) change in leadership.

Realistically, making to Director is 2-3 years away and will require sacrificing time with my family that I am not prepared to give up.
