Try to stay 1 year but if you have another job, just leave.
Start looking as soon as possible. I was in the same situation as you, did great at my first firm and had a blast but at the second firm was crying every day and forced myself to stay because I didn’t want to pay back the signing bonus and for optics but ended up getting fired before I could find another opportunity. I deeply regret not starting my search sooner.

Why do you think you’re crying every day? Did you cry every day at your last job and if so was it biglaw?

What made you decide to leave a job like that? Sounds like a dream. Sorry this current role didn’t work out.

Please explain. I want to help but need more information about what happened in your last job and what’s making you cry in your current job.
I’m sorry. I’d start applying now and not worry about the timeline. First, nothing is worth staying in a job that makes you cry everyday. You deserve to feel better, and the longer you stay in a toxic environment, the more likely you’ll end up with maladaptations that may not serve you well in the next job. Second, this is a time of year when there’s a lot of lateral movement and so I’d try to plug into that. Third, I don’t think anybody cares that much about one short stint; you’ve been there long enough to be able to evaluate that it’s not the place where you want to plant your seed and grow. Keep it positive when talking to people outside the firm and I don’t think the timing will be a hindrance.
