Wow. McKinsey, which has the biggest public sector presence of the MBB, really hasn't been doing too hot at all in the sector.
Its presence is tiny and it's gotten even smaller. Meanwhile it's bungling whatever opportunities it's getting.

There are particular teams in b4 (e.g., S&, top end strategy teams - monitor, S&O - at Deloitte, parthenon) that prob are analogous or similar in work style and experience to Mbb.
I think the big difference is that there is a standard of competency in business at MBB, standardized salaries, and standardized development. People-wise, I hear it varies by office.
From my understanding having worked in our strategy shop: Higher caliber analysis and speed thereof, less scrutiny for expenses, 2 levels below C-suite vs B4 can be 4 or even 5 levels below, higher comp, faster promos, but also way worse worklife balance. Essentially B4 is an intense job M-Th, MBB is investment banking hours M-Th with a corporate friday
Oh yeah, B4 is a smack in the face of bureaucracy compared to little ol’ booz
I worked at Deloitte prior to this and think things are pretty similar. Maybe things move a little faster with a smaller team but it’s mostly the same.
BCG is a lot more pleasant to work at though. Better benefits/traveling perks and the office has snacks!
Another nice thing is the standardized salary. I knew people in the same role with a 40k variance in the salary. That made me plan to leave when I found that out.
I agree... Thanks for the info!
