Hi there. Ex Deloitte Sr Mgr here, currently in tech pre sales (SaaS / MarTech). Recently spoke to both Salesforce and Adobe recruiters for roles that I thought were lateral moves (Sr SA / Sr SC), therefore I did not proceed with the selection process. The recruiters from both companies told me they typically hire at that level, and people are considered for promotion to Principal in 1 to 2 years. I found that odd. Is that right? What’s the typical TC for SAs and SCs there? (15+ yrs exp).

My LM is so keen on small small things, not related to coding but documentation and all. Atleast once in a week I'm committing mistakes on small documentation points n he is stressing on same. Are there any chances that my probation will not be extended or is it a clue for me from my LM. He is Looping his LM and asking questions/clarifications.
Should I ask him directly or can be ignored or need to try outside. Please suggest Barclays

Don't get your hopes up. It's very political at Salesforce. Not about merit.

💯 it's all about the politics
I asked my most recent employer during the interview process to write my career track and timeline for my first promotion in my offer letter and they did. Just a tip for future negotiations.
I don’t think big companies do that.
I would personally leave if it didn't happen within 3 years, there's no point sticking around by that point
4 years is insane. I would say you should start looking somewhere else. There doesn't seem to be many opportunities for growth where you are.
If you are well compensated and enjoy Salesforce consider a lateral move to another interesting role with a manager who is connected
How much are you pushing for it? Promotions don’t come to those who just wait it out. You have to want it too. I’ve been promoted a couple times. Some were longer than others in between, but there has to be constant communication. If you stay silent, they don’t know you’re interested still
Hi - could you shed light on the promo process at Salesforce? My team has been vague about it - how often does the cycle come around/how long is the deliberation process?
It really depends on the company. The agency I am at does not have many promotional opportunities, so it is pretty frustrating. I am sending my resume out because I know it will be years before I get a promotion here.
Have you not come through the G4G program? Or applied for other roles? Had the cater chat with your manager? 4 years is a while. What would be the next level for you?

G4G is sales, not consulting. Consulting also doesn't have OOM, like Eng.
It really depends on the company and it could be a matter of there are no positions open to promote you to
How strong are you prospective rivals? I really wish you finally get promoted, OP. 4 years of waiting is no small feat.
Most folks get promoted in 3 years but because of economic conditions, promotions were on hold.

This unfortunately is very common in Salesforce proserv and is evidence that you, your manager, or both are not politically connected (at least at the L7/8/9 levels). Better to go to Big 4 early career where it's a little closer to "up or out".
That’s true. My manager came through acquisitions and is not that well connected.
