Currently on my fifth day of PTO while rest of firm is off for the week (I’m counting the weekend as part of my PTO) - I still worked very late hours right before the fourth. This streak has been my first bit of PTO since my surgery a year ago, in which I still did work while I was still in my bandages healing
I want to quit lol
Lolol IBA1, PE is no better but actually worse unless you find that diamond in the rough LMM shop or even less rare a good WLB MM shop. PE is not for WLB lol
My analyst gets 1.5 weeks off (consecutive days) because she’s international. I can barely get 5 days off - they give me $hit for it. It seems like if you’re an international in investment banking it’s the best situation for vacations.
I work at an American bank in nyc…
I’ll just take my PTO around the weekend or holidays to get a longer stretch from it. Also find it hard to take off too many days in a row. Plus for me it’s a lot nicer to take little breaks through the year instead of one long one where I’m more stressed about being off.
Our groups rule is we force everyone of our juniors to take a full week off at some point during the year.
Thankfully we’re smart enough to figure out how to (mostly) cover for an analysts absence. Unless we’re at critical junctures of a deal we try to keep them fully unplugged.
I have definitely been out of office for 7 or 8 business days in a row, but my reality is I’m answering the phone when it rings and working ~6 hours daily while my family fully enjoys the wonderful vacation.
I get 20 days of vacation a year (+10 sick days) and always max it, usually one week long vacation and then a few long weekends.
Took two consecutive weeks for my honeymoon this year.
We have unlimited PTO plus 9 holidays. I usually take 2 weeks in a row every year to go overseas. My employer will force you to take a week off if you don't use your vacation for a while.
