Hi fishes,
Any guess how many people are laid off from Publicis sapient in past few days? Really scared for my future as I'm also under probation period and deeply regret for my choice of joining this firm...I don't understand why were they recruiting peeps when they were short of projects. Publicis Sapient
I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?

Once, a little over 3 years ago. My manager's and my team's roles (5 people in total) were eliminated as part of workforce reduction exercise and we were asked to take severance and leave or find another role within the company.
I found another role within the company which was a level higher, received a 7% raise, and moved to a different state (with no state income tax). A great deal!
I’ve heard of these horror stories

How much can you know really know about yourself if you haven’t lost a job or two? 🤝
I worked with someone who said she used to get fired from all her jobs. She was a low performer… then got a job at AWS, so idk 🤷🏻♂️🤣
Once…a VERY long time ago. I was a waitress and pissed off the owner’s son’s girlfriend. Fired the next day. 🤷🏻♀️ Only time in 22 years working! Lol!
Once after working for the company for 13 years... Zero severance and mgmt suggested I email a resignation letter to HR if I ever wanted to be considered for a contract gig with them... Yes they're publicly traded and current market cap is 3.7bln/about 500mln revenue... the best is about 6 months later a previous client reached out for a small 6 week gig that I engaged on with my employer at the time and the previous company sent me a non compete reminder that's framed in my office.
You framed your non compete!!!! Ahhhh I may do this. Pretty much every role I am looking at now goes against the non complete clause I got from my last job and I find it so funny— like no, you’re not going to enforce this I’m calling your bluff

They kept it real quiet.
Never in 16 years experience but had a close call. A former employer did some really unethical stuff and I spoke up. Boss’s boss (companies President) decided I needed to be “transitioned out”. I wound up getting another job before I was officially pushed out and I resigned on the spot. Lesson here is when you see people doing crazy sh** dont hesitate to speak up and dont worry about retaliation.
Worked for a boutique consultancy where the owner’s favourite hobby was cross buzzing on pills and gin. All the clients fired us because of this and somehow I was the cause in her mind.
When she didn’t pay my last paycheck I served her with papers at the last remaining client site because she was actively avoiding service of process.
Her response was to post a selfie to insta complaining about how cruel people could be.
I got fired once from a small business. My mom passed away and they said I wasn’t “giving as much time to work as they’d like to see” I think it was an excuse because they didn’t have enough work for me to do.

None, but I left a job where I was probably not going to make it through year-end.
It wasn't about the performance of the project or about my performance on the project, it was about utilization from prior to that and about a review from the previous project.
Once, 2009 (laid off with severance package).
Once, the manager honestly was a jerk and it was for the best. He would tell me to do certain things then get me in trouble for them. Pretty sure he didn’t like me for whatever reason and purposely did this to get me fired. Also pretty sure I make more than him now lol When I got a new job I doubled my salary 😁
Once in 8 years of experience. It was a small business, terrible company. They hired me for one role, then expected me to do another. My office didn’t have windows. It was on my one year review and they kind of manipulated me into quitting. Only got paid for an extra two weeks, my vacation. I learned a lot about how I would handle the situation next time.

Oh god. The office with now windows !!!
Haha that’s also something that triggers me about not wanting to go back to the office. Worked at ford for 2 years and every office I had didn’t have windows and had the worst air insulation
Zero in 9 yoe. However I did rage resign from 2 jobs with minimal notice (1-2 weeks).
