Personally know at least two making $200K plus bonus. Patent Litigation and Securities litigation.
$120k and feel it’s not enough
What practice area are you in?

They cap it at first year associate salary but get around that with massive bonuses (like an additional $200k) for paralegals with decades and decades of experience
Coach
Seen it at multiple top 30 firms. Like I said the bonus part is only for paralegals with decades upon decades of experience but I’ve seen plenty of people get into the 200s well before that, especially if you include bonus, overtime, and base.
I left biglaw after two decades for a mid-size, and I make more now. Totally depends on the firm - some value paralegals, some don't.
Definitely not standard. In fact the opposite. As paralegals we also to tend to know more than an attorney who just started practicing and with that I have had jealously and over all belittlement. Sometimes I even do attorney work and you would think because I have the extra knowledge and I do make us look good it would be valued. It’s not. That’s why there is high turn over and some firms can’t keep a paralegal especially a good one. The work is hard enough with intense deadlines. A little appreciation goes a long way even a thank you sometimes
As someone who used to be a Big Law paralegal, know that that nice salary in many cases is going to come at a huge price- quality of life. The cash is wonderful, but just keep that in the back of your mind.
I left Big Law for in-house, and while I make significantly less (relatively speaking, I still do pretty well I think), my quality of life has skyrocketed.
Not trying to rain on anybody’s parade here, I just wish someone had warned me before I became a cautionary tale.
If I was offered an in-house role for my current client I would totally accept it, so I totally understand the angle that you're coming from.
$120K - $160K, depending on practice area.
120k plus OT. Bonuses are under 4k
Same

$100k generally depending on market and type of law.
$240k plus bonus (14k) plus overtime
I’m interested in moving over to Corporate, thanks for the insight!
What type of law is everyone considering Big Law ?
I usually think anything that falls under corporate law. Big law firms typically have a legal department for any of their corporate client needs. Corporate litigation, mergers and acquisitions, etc.
