Best ways to identify your target audience?
I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?

I usually give something that's in the same dollar amount to everyone. It depends on what kind of occasion it is. Birthdays, Christmas, I'll do gift cards or something. But wedding and new baby..I'd have to look at the registry.
Rising Star
I always skip. I don't give away money to colleagues, we just work together. I think it's inappropriate to ask
I hate doing this because I've never been one to receive. No one celebrates my birthday, I don't have baby showers or bridal showers (male). I usually try to avoid it, but then when people come directly to me I feel obligated. Try to tell them I don't carry cash with me or make up some other excuse. I've got enough family and close friends I do stuff for, aside from the normal expenses.
The don't have cash excuse is dead now with Venmo.
$100 if they work for me, $50 is they are peers, $30 for people who are in marketing but not on my team.
I never give over $20. Its acceptable to do a bit more at more senior levels, but it becomes a slippery slope with all the different occasions that arise, particularly on big teams
Everyone in my department is pretty close so we all give personal gifts to one another. Depending on the person and the occasion, I have found myself spending anywhere from $25-200
We all usually contribute what we can which averages to about $20 and the department director collects the money and buys a visa gift card for that person so they can get whatever they want.
Pro
I usually give around $20 bucks, more if it’s someone I worked very closely with
