Anyone recently received a tax manager offer from EY ? I’m going through final interviews and want to see what your experience was like (negotiation process, initial offer higher/lower than expected?, did you give them a salary expectation range? How long did it take from final interview to offer etc) TIA!PwC EY KPMG Deloitte
Why Aren’t More Women Taking the Lead in Project Management?
Women make up around a third of the project management population — a figure that hasn’t changed a great deal over the last few years — and they also continue to be largely absent from leadership roles in major projects.

I’m in LA. I give a $100 gift card. My secretary is employed by the firm, not me. The firm gives her a bonus.
I agree with the above but the answer will depend on whether you’re an equity partner determining your assistant’s bonus or if you’re just giving a holiday gift (on top of what your firm pays in bonuses). For a holiday “gift” (not bonus), for someone who really works their tail off for you all year, I would suggest $100-$300 in a gift card or partial gift card and a small gift (candle, wine, gift basket etc). If you’re an equity partner determining your assistant’s bonus- no extra gift needed.
Giving my assistant $1000 this year (have steadily increased year over year). Have spoken to a handful of colleagues about this each holiday. Associates usually give 100-300; partners $500-1000, although there are always outliers.
Thanks for the insights - I actually came here just to post this question. Large law firm (mid-west);non-equity partner. Firm is not giving her any bonus this year. I wasn't sure but will give her $500 now. Thanks again!
Texas big law equity partner. I share my assistant with two other non-equity partners. The younger partners will probably give $250-450; I’ll probably give $600-800. There’s a goal to get at least $1,000 to each assistant, but staffing variables exist.
Also Texas biglaw, non-equity partner. I gave my secretary ~$1300-1500 the past couple of years and will be increasing it this year, probably $1750 or even up to 2000. In light of the special covid bonuses this year, feels right to give her a little more. (And I think she deserves it).
Big law DC equity partner. My admin runs my life. On one hand I think work demands are less. On the other hand, the pandemic is stressful. We restored all salary reductions but no staff bonuses. I’ll likely increase her bonus to $2k because of the times. It will then become an annual expectation 😀
NYC is a different animal altogether. Don’t let that factor in. If you pay your secretary (are we still allowed to call them that? Are the PC police out there?!) a fair salary, then it is simply a Holiday Gift, not a “bonus”. Think in terms of $1000 for every 25K he or she receives in salary. That is very generous, tailor it to your community though. One of my assistants has a 94K salary which is very strong so I will give a much smaller Holiday gift. Think in terms of what is meaningful but be aware of a relative scale.
BigLaw, Texas office. They are paid well and receive a staff bonus, so our team was planning to all chip in ($100 from associates, more from counsel and partners) but I wasn’t expecting anyone to give more than $200-300.
At a mid-size midwest firm. The 3 partners who share our assistant each give 100-$300 in cash. This is in addition to whatever the firm does. We typically discuss what we are giving to make sure everyone is in the same range.
I think it depends on region.
