In Germany - never
I am transitioning to the US soon, I guess this feeling if job security will change too. Let’s see
Dito. Very lucky to be working and living in Germany where something very severe must happen before they can fire you….
The thought crosses my mind whenever I’m on the bench. But considering I should get a decent severance (assuming layoff not perf issues), I try not to worry about it
You get severance even if it’s performance related. The only time you won’t get severance is if you did cocaine in the office or something similar.
I don't.
I maintain an emergency fund which can sustain my current spending levels for six months with zero income, and I know that if I were let go, I could find another job within those six months.
Living significantly below your means lets you erase a lot of sources of potential stress from your life.
About once a month but not very seriously
I have major anxiety and I’m an over-thinker. It crosses my mind at least once a week or so.
No one has ever mentioned my performance on any calls, I’ve always gotten good feedback - idk why, I just have that feeling.

For a period earlier in my career it was at least a weekly concern.
I'd gotten fired out of a job that had turned into such a dumpster fire that my performance decreased substantially over the course of 2 years, then in my next job I was still so screwed up mentally from the previous one that I was PIPed within about 6 months.
Got my head on right and survived the PIP, but then left a year later for a company that turned out to be even worse than the dumpster fire one that kicked off the whole mess and ended up leaving before getting fired (it was definitely coming, just hadn't happend yet).
Took a 2 month break to just rest and recuperate then got a new job and it's been smooth sailing ever since, like it was before the whole thing went down, but that ~4 year period was incredibly nerve wracking (and the source of quite a bit of white hair) and getting fired was at least a weekly concern.
Did you get placed on the PIP after the project was over or during?
Not really. Sometimes i wish they fired me so I dont have to clean this mess. But then, oh no I need money 😢

Yeah about once a month here too
I’m new to my firm and I’m constantly worried I’m going to get rolled off a project and subsequently fired.
