Respectfully, eff him. Don't feel guilty. You don't want to pay that, and him calling you to complain should not change your opinion. Maybe next time he'll be more upfront lmao
They havent filed yet just did the tax prep is what he mentioned
Don't feel bad. They should have discussed fees with you beforehand if it were that much effort. Their policy if I remember correctly is that you don't owe anything unless they file. I worked for them over a tax season (before I went into accounting) and have people walk away after learning how much their refund amount would be.
I don’t think he actually did it.
My CPA was $250 for my wife and my return, and my LLC, and my total return was probably 24 pages
Sounds like a helluva good deal!
Dont know your situation but, I'm a CPA and I file my own taxes. It cost me $150 just to use software. If it was truly a CPA that prepared and reviewed your returns CPA hourly rates are well im excess of $100/hr. The market rate for an intern is in excess of $125/hr. $500 unless its a 1040EZ seems like a deal.
Why did you give them your documents if you didn’t plan using them?
TurboTax next year, ok?
Yes you can back out. We stopped filing taxes with them many years ago because they were so expensive . Tell no thank you and you will be by the office soon to pick up your paperwork.
500 is normal. 500 is for a simple return at my firm.
Same here. My firm won’t do anything for less than $500.
