I am a third year M&A associate looking to pivot to the strategy department of a Fortune 100 company. What title/level would you expect to see if you were me? My current comp all in is over 265k (not expecting to match). I just want to make sure I’m not selling myself short from an advancement perspective by accepting too “junior” of a title. Salary can take a hit. Thoughts?

Is it a fail of character leaving biglaw? I want to leave, but despite the constant stress and suffering, I can’t avoid feeling like it’s my fault or that maybe I’m over exaggerating how I feel. 2020 grad M&A/PE Associate in LCOL area thinking about moving to a ECVC/M&A boutique. I generally like the work I do and the people I work with, but I really don’t like the hours and the constant late nights and weekends. Currently on pace for 2250. Boutique I have been eyeing has billable hour requirement of 1500-1600 and comes with a 20-25% paycut. Is this a stupid idea and should I grind it out until I can move in house? Junior associate here, should I ask for more money if my firm is about 10-15 percent less hours but about 30 percent less pay? The gap will never be closed to the top pay scale at my firm but when I decided to come to this firm the pay difference was about 15 percent and not 30. Curious as to how many deals at once is typical for a first year associate to take on (M&A, mostly private equity clients). Deal size is lower middle market and I’ve worked on deals ranging from $1-$110M. 2 deals at once is plenty for me, but it seems like my peers are able to take on more than that at once and still do fine. Maybe I’m just a slow learner/out of my league at the big law firm I’m at.
