I am audit manager at top 10 PA firm. Looking to exit PA, and found most industry roles require SEC experience. All of my audit clients are private companies. Is SEC experience really required? Should I consider applying as senior, just to get the experience?

Thank you for your input

Apply anyways and talk about your controls/reporting testing experience. "Requirements" are very loose guidelines. If you can you figure it out enough to be a manager follow you can figure out an industry role.

What firm are you at? Are there no opportunities at your firm to work on public clients to diversify yourself? I would attempt that first if possible.

I am at RSM. It’s tough to request working on SEC jobs as manager, as there is only few SEC jobs in my local office and Partners want someone with SEC experience. I should have requested this when I was senior.. but will try. Thank you for your input

Agree to apply anyway. If you’re looking at public company industry jobs or IPO companies, that may be why they want the experience but it likely won’t be a complete dealbreaker unless you’re applying for a SEC reporting role or something. Def not something to downgrade to senior for.

Thank you, appreciate your input

I understand it’s hard to figure out what you truly want to do or can do or how much you’re worth leaving PA. Siegfried’s business model offers you multiple jobs from various clients, you’d say yes to the one you’re interested, interview with the clients then get on the job. Could be anything from GL accounting, FP&A, IPO, system implementation, etc. Normally a job could last from 6 months to 2 years. That’s way you can take your time to figure out what you really enjoy doing without jumping from one company to the other. They have very attractive compensation package too. DM me if you want to know more

I am in a tech IC position. One of friends switched to FAANG by converting the profile to consultant profile. The friend who might have less tech knowledge than me is now in FAANG and earning more. I had been practising DSA for years and the competition is only ever growing.

I'm a new employee, and my manager told me that I'm no good at my job. How am I supposed to learn if I'm not allowed to ask questions?
