I am currently a Clinical Studies Coordinator and while it is a very rewarding position, I am looking to move into a new role. Honestly, I want to be my own boss. I know that comes with its own challenges but to me, it would be worth it. I have embarked on the journey of starting my own business and would like to put my energy into that full time. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to balance full time work in research and managing a business?

It calls for a lot of discipline. Compartmentalize your time. Whatever time you decide to put aside for you business use alllll of it for that. Also make sure to set aside time to decompress.

like

Thank you for the advice! I’m all about setting aside to for decompression, that’s an large an important piece of the pie here

This takes an incredible amount of discipline. You're one of the few who has the courage to go ahead and try! So bless you for that, seriously. At the end of the day, I think you'll be quite glad you tried.

like

I agree! I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to try my hand at something completely new.

It's going to be a grind for a while, no way around it, but it's an awesome idea to continue keeping your FT role. I'd get very good about blocking time off on your calendar and staying organized. Please also make sure you fit in some downtime. You WILL burn out if you don't pace yourself and set reasonable expectations. Gl! Can you share what business you are thinking of starting? Just curious.

Thanks for the wisdom! There’s really so many moving parts to everything but I’m so ready for the challenge. I have started an all natural herbal hair care line called H.E.AL Hair Care. My business is really just starting so I’m waiting on my website to launch, get business cards going, etc. I’m new to all aspects of business so it’s been a serious learning process but I’m loving it so far. My goal is not to get filthy rich or anything, but to simply share my love for hair, well-being and Mother Earth with those who are open minded and willing to explore the world of herbal remedies

So I do something similar. You have to be 1) REALLY organized and 2) make sure your duties don't overlap. The hardest is making sure there are no clashing meetings so I'd advise doing something that doesn't require a lot of phone calls etc

I appreciate that advice. I almost considered looking for a customer service position which duties included being on the phone. That’s definitely a no-go! You’re completely right, I’ll have to do some trial and error with my time to see what works

I have a weird question

I have given interviews in
JPMorgan Chase for developer role and got the offer which is gud but interviews were not as tough as one might have expected from a reputed firm like jpmc.

Had 1 tech,1 tech-Manager round , Hire view test which was quite easy and an hr round.
Am a little worried about the standard of project and the team. I have offer from CIB Payments team. Checked with hiring manager and he said d role is for developer. Just worried abt quality of work

I was just offered an RN II position at Stanford Hospital’s B3 unit for $84/hour. Are there any RNs out there who can tell me what it’s like working on the unit and if it’s worth leaving my job for? I love my current job, my schedule and the people. I have no problems with it except that it’s 1.5 hours away from my family and it pays $25/hour less than Stanford.

Also, do you think it’s too late to ask if I can visit the unit before I make my decision? Thanks in advance.

Job base salary presented by HR during screening interview was $130-$145k. I have 3-5 years more experience and more education compared to the posting requirements (BA required, I have a MS). I love the position and what it entails, but was hoping to reach $150-$160 base salary. If offered the position, is this a reasonable ask? This is for big pharma, data analytics in New England.
