Any advice on moving from L4 to L5 in Amazon?
I'm looking to find a job like the Forward Deployed Engineer role Palantir Technologies in the UK.
I have become hooked on finding a job that involves solving the kinds of problems they presented during their interviews. Although I got to the final round my performance anxiety got the better of me (I think I wanted the job a bit too much...). I will reapply after working in a similar company.
Is it "deep tech" / "data science" or "smart enterprise" that they're doing? Any advice welcome.

I’ve not done it so my advice may not be worth much but my gut says the hardest part is getting into the US. If this place is offering you sponsorship and a working visa I’d take it, stick it out in the city for a year or two and try and move somewhere else within your preferred city once over there.

As an Immigrant in the us I can say that yes, getting in is the hard part, also going to the wrong agency when I first moved in to NY completely ruined the momentum I had in my career. So choose the agency, not the city at first. If you do good work finding job here after is easier.
What city is that btw?
Good advice from CD. It seems like every US city has that one negative brand attribute people talk about. Many times it’s overblown, i.e. “Chicago is too cold.” Yes. Very. But only a handful of degrees colder than nyc. It’s a tremendous city if you have a bad ass parka and summer is unbelievable. NYC, LA, CHI, SFO, ATX, PDX, MIA, MSP, ATL, DEN, BOS, I wish I could live in all of them. Even KC would be fun for a few years if you know what you’re doing.
2 most important things: You’ll be building your book & they’re paying you enough to live there.
Between covid, immigration restrictions and the rise of remote companies, it’s nearly impossible to get a visa nowadays. Take the job if you’re ready to make the move.
Go! The rule for immigration is to take the job offered. The first three years will go by so quickly because you are busy with life admin.
Take the new job!
Every US city has something amazing and wonderful and something awful about it, in various ways and measures and you’ll find strong opinions on every one for and against. Make it your goal to discover and seek out what’s wonderful and minimize what’s not. Eat it up and get the experience, the opportunity, the change, the work.

What city is it? Maybe we can help in your understanding of it. You can also DM the city if you don’t want to post it here.
You will likely regret not taking this opportunity. Take the offer, every city has its pros and cons. And while you’re in the US, explore other cities to get a taste of it.
If you reject the offer/they need another team, my partner and I are trying to get a sponsor. Let me know pls :)
By the way, if you take the job, you’ll have to wait till you have a green card to be a free agent. So while I agree that moving to the US is the bigger struggle, and this company will sponsor you and that’s amazing, you should consider being in Miami for at least five years.

Not true. you can self sponsor an O1. And a lot agencies does visa transfers but don’t sponsor from scratch. I transferred mine 3 times already, and extended two more. Including moving to a different city.
If you could share the city where you are and the city where they are offering the job, that would be pretty helpful to give you more informed advice.
I was living in South America and got a job offer in a tiny agency here in the USA in the middle of nowhere many years ago. As CD 1 mentioned getting the sponsorship was instrumental, and even though I didn’t love the city where I landed, I am grateful for the opportunity everyday.
Just ask all the questions related to immigration: what kind of visa are offering? HB1s, are kind of tough for example, as you need to be committed to your agency for long time and would need another sponsorship to change jobs.
It looks like you in a good place now, so might be a good idea to take this adventure here in the USA and see how it can improve your career – worst case scenario you can always go back to Europe.

SAD1 I think you are me from the future and beat me to it. I wouldn’t change a single letter in your comment.
Sucks that I’m still a sr ad in the future tho.

The only thing I’d add to CD’s 1 comment does this agency have other US offices, maybe you can put in for a transfer after a year ?
When you say you don’t like the US city.... can you provide more? Is it a secondary city like Minneapolis or St Louis Carolina? or is it a primary city like NY, LA, Chicago?
What’s not to like?
Everything is temporary—you can leave after a year if you hate it. At the least it’ll be a random chapter in your life
