I am eager to make a switch from pharma ad agency to a tech industry within a product/marketing role. But I hear so many times that it can’t happen because I have been in pharma for so long. Is this true from recruiters’ perspectives? And if not how can I start transitioning without getting silenced by tech recruiters?

Just heard my H1B petition was approved. Visa will be valid starting Oct 1, 2021. I am also scheduled to get promoted in October (unsure of which date exactly). Hypothetically, if I get promoted from Account Coordinator to Account Manager I on Oct 5, after my H1B kicks in on Oct 1, how would this work logistically? Specialist roles aside, such as digital, when you see someone describing themselves as a “generalist marketer” is this a resume you’d pass on?
