Just got a job offer with significant raise and will be a change in job role😃. How should I go about talking with my current people manager about the move? I want to keep good relationship with this manager. I’m planning to apply to MBA this Fall (around Sept/Oct 2021) and will need recommendation letters, and would love to discuss with her NOW about writing me a recommendation letters around August (which is after I leave the company already). Very anxious about this move 😟

Is 120k an acceptable salary for Dallas, Texas? I’m taking a pay cut to move there from San Francisco
Has anyone ever left consulting for a 1 year contract gig at FAANG? Does contract work typically turn into a full-time role?
Thoughts on Dentsu Aegis? I've received an offer for a role (promotion) and thinking about whether it is a sound move - especially in this environment. They went through furloughs and pay cuts in April due to COVID. I'd be making the move from EY which is a great company to work with - but there is such a long line up to get a promotion, and for roles I've interviewed for internally I get the good ole - you were awesome and it was rly close, but someone was just a better fit.
FDD exit opportunities into Corp Development (in-house M&A) - is this common or rare? How many years of FDD experience would be most ideal to make this jump?
US expats living in London, what proportion of your salary do you put into pension vs investing directly? Would like to start growing wealth, however I am finding tax rules quite complicated / limiting outside of the pensions wrapper. For reference, planning to stay in the UK long term, late 20s, TC ~ £65k.
Anyone here with experience on Erasmus, Chevening, DAAD, Fulbright etc. & successfully immigrated to your respective host country? What should aspirants prepare & do in their career before applying? Currently a designer/art director from Asia transitioning into Tech & UI/UX & dreaming to pursue one of these programs.
Anyone interview with BCG DV? Have an introduction call soon and want to know what to expect. Work seems cool.
VC interview tomorrow, with maybe more rounds to follow. What key questions should I ask as I'm getting to know the firm?
Does anyone have experience reaching out to a hiring manager that you’ve previously declined a job offer for? The offer I declined awhile back recently showed up again in my LinkedIn suggested jobs and deep down I few I made a mistake declining it to begin with.
Interviewing tomorrow and the company has communicated their intention to make an offer by the end of next week. 1) would you take this offer so close to busy season; 2) is the quick hiring decision a red flag? Enough to steer clear of position? It’s a promotion to manager for me and - little over 25% base pay increase.
@McK fish - Does anyone know who actually evaluates the resumes and makes decisions on interview offers? Not for campus - for experienced hires. Generalist roles.
Can someone help in demystifying scatterplot. I keep hearing words like 4-4 position on scatter plot but dont know what it means
any referrals for business analyst role?
Struggling with anxiety...anyone gone to a medical professional for this? Do you just go to a primary care doc first and then get a referral?
Have been pinged for a possible role as Director of Operations at a promising looking startup with a 50%% pay increase & equity. It looks like an amazing opportunity.. but my husband and I have just started trying for our first kid, and I'm not sure about leaving the stability and benefits of Big 4, even though I feel like I have run out of career growth here. Has anyone changed jobs at a similar point, or worked at a startup as a new mom, that might be able to share perspective or opinions?
Husband is looking at new job offers. Can someone help me understand comp band for ATX Accenture L7 Ops Service Delivery Manager? Accenture
At a former company, they let you expense $20 for working 10+ hours in a day, but you could never use it because it would always be rejected. Recently started at a new firm, and I had a rough week last week (two 14+ hour days). New firm has a similar policy, so I asked. Was told not to submit the $20 reimbursements. Just as I was about to get frustrated, he told me I should get dinner for my wife and me. Only rule was to keep it under $100. Don't like working 14 hour days, but this was nice.
How is westin resort at Cancun ? I received an offer from SPG for a discounted 5D/4N stay and trying to decide if I should book it. Thanks!
Deloitters; is pension vesting tracked by your start date or a certain time of year? And is an all or nothing vest? I might be leavening barely a month from my 3 year vesting mark.
Putting MBA after your name is dumb...prove me wrong
Booked a short weekend trip in Chicago awhile back for next weekend and I’m wondering how difficult it is to find stuff to do with covid going on. Anyone have any recommendations?
1 year and 3 month with two busy season experience, CPA licensed and CFE passed (don’t have two year experience yet), on a visa. What are the chances of me getting in forensic consulting? I’ve been cold calling people around but don’t seem like they are currently hiring.
If you are starting as an Audit Associate some time from now with Deloitte or any of the big 4, do they expect you to have passed/completed all 4 parts by the time you start? Received the Becker Reimbursement email from the recruiter not too long ago but have yet to start. I’ve seen plenty of people get to Senior at a big 4 firm without the CPA so I am a bit confused in that aspect. Any helpful feedback will be very much appreciated.
Does anyone have insight into IQVIA comp for Principal level? I was just verbally offered $275k base + 35% bonus (seems high likelihood of hitting). I was targeting Sr. Principal, but told pay not much more and Principal is better entry for getting feet wet. 16 years of Life Science, 10 years of Top 4 Consulting, Top 5 MBA. IQVIA
Currently working at Accenture as a C (promoted Dec ‘19), but I know I ultimately want to make the jump over to Deloitte. I am on track to be promoted to M in the 2021 promo cycle and I know Deloitte would likely knock me down one level either way. Due to COVID-19, it seems like it doesn’t make sense to jump ship for at least another year while things get back to normal. Any thoughts on if it’s better to wait it out and leave after making M (but how long after?) or try to leave earlier? TIA
There are multiple platforms that provide data science interview preparation courses? Are they really worth it for someone who is trying to switch to a data science career or self study is more beneficial. Please share your opinion and recommended platforms you have been benefited
Has anyone else also not worked out since WFH was mandated… so like for over a year? I’ve been constantly low energy for months and want to slowly get back in the habit since I think it will help. Problem is I don’t feel too comfortable going to a public gym just yet. Any suggestions?
Hi 🐠 I have been on bench for 1 week now and have been trying to do my best to get a project. My utility is dropping fast, But I feel I am being ingonored in my practice and also being asked to join project which doesn’t align my skillset. I have been in company for over a year now. Is this normal? FYI. I come from Industry so trying to understand consultaning world
Just looking for a place I can maybe find someone in the same boat. I have PCOS. I weigh 336 lbs despite sticking to a strict diet and exercise regiment. I’m 25, single, and growing even more isolated than usual as I find myself using COVID as an excuse to further shelter myself. Any other ladies experience this struggle and have advice or inspiration I could draw on? TIA 😞
How difficult is it to move from McKinsey to Bain/BCG in the same region? Just a little worried about the story I should tell. My actual reasons are/would be comp + radical shift in office culture. I’m a solid performer (1+6, with T+ and T ratings so far). For reference, my Mck office has grown 3x since I joined, while Bain/BCG are still small in the region and trying to grow.
DM for EY referral. Junior levels preferred.
Are most people in this bowl clearing 150k by 25? What’s a reasonable amount to still be considered ahead of the curve salary wise in your late 20s?
Any recommendations for MBA admissions consultants? Getting sticker shock looking at the prices…
