I would wait a couple more days before you reach out again. I know it's tempting, but it can be seen as pushy. Especially because the job searching process is taking longer than it used to. I hope you hear something soon!
I completely understand the anxiety — I feel the same way after interviews. The waiting period is so emotionally draining. There’s nothing wrong with reaching out to the hiring manager; it shows initiative and genuine interest in the role.

What’s an appropriate length of time to touch base again?

That waiting game always messes with your head. A week is still pretty fresh, so giving it a few more days before following up is usually fine. Reaching out politely after a week or ten days is totally normal and won’t make you look desperate. How long do you usually let it sit before checking in?

I have no idea what the ideal timeline to reach out is. Some people say a week. Others say a month. Not sure if either helps or would make it a dealbreaker for the job?

I think a week is long enough to wait to reach out to a potential employer about the status of your interview or application. Don’t be discouraged when you don’t hear from them, just move onto the next opportunity to keep your mind off of that and keep the momentum going.
