I applied for both an IC and management role at a MA software company. HR initially pushed me toward the IC role, though my experience aligns with management (mgmt). After interviewing with 5 people, all agreed I was a better fit for mgmt, yet HR offered the mgmt role for the IC role salary (25% less). Would you push for the mgmt salary, accept to get in, or walk away?

Do you still have opportunity to negotiate salary when you’re going thru a recruiter and they tell you the range upfront?

Should I Go Back and Reneg? Recently I was offered a role as a Project Implementation Manager (In Retirement Services) .The salary range for Colorado residents was 65-89K. I’m located in NY so the recruiter said he would try to get me more. I’m a former forensic scientist that left the field several years ago. I recently received a subpoena from a case I worked and suggested to DA to have evidence re-worked by the lab or stipulation. If I am required to testify (as an expert witness), I would need to book a flight, hotel, etc. My question is this: can I ask for my requested hourly rate, travel, and hotel to be covered when speaking with DA or is that “not how this works” as the investigator put it?
