I guess my point is: Isn't all undergrad is a place to learn to think? There are a couple majors that line up with a career, like accountants, but consulting isn't one of them. Conversely, my college roommate who was a history major is now the chief accountant for a huge company, probably because all his BA in accounting colleagues couldn't think or write very well.
Engineering majors are the golden ticket. You can do pretty much anything if you're also personable
You can work at Accenture
You join tumblr and vent about the broken system that keeps you out of jobs
They will change the world by supporting Bernie and becoming socialists
Haha. OP you sound like my grandpa. This was a interesting thread til it got unnecessarily political. I agree with posters that quant is an important skill.
@D4 No, undergrad is absolutely not a place where you learn to think. It's a place where you are told *how* to think, and how to not to step on anyone's toes or gentle feelings while adhering to liberal, politically correct bullshit. That's the problem -- there is no free speech or free thought. You are only free to speak your mind if it fits the liberal agenda.
@A1 now you're at Accenture LOL
What's an acceptable major? I use my high school math education more than I use most of what I picked up in college other than writing a lot.
Dance major here. Doing just fine.
Ugh yes. What would you even realistically do with that? Join a nonprofit? I'm actually curious bc gender studies seems to be popular these days 🙄
...so...tell me how all these "gender studies" and "lesbian dance therapy" graduates wound up on your Facebook feed?
Creative writing major helped me be a better writer. Turns out writing is a superfluous skill in Consulting. I now am forced to write things like "we leveraged the analytics to better solution the problem."
^😂😂😂
@d2: poli sci degree reporting in. Did six months in actual politics, now I work in resources doing not that.
Anything but social science, it's a joke
Biology? Learning genomics and running experiments with rats to become... A consultant that writes decks on the governance structure of Fortune 500's decision making between finance and IT. Not seeing the connection.
Maybe I am your grandpa. #plottwist
D4 so douchey can't even articulate just how douchey your post about your Grandfather came across. WTF FML
Calm down, @D2 😂
