Negotiating with EY for M/SM Tech Consulting. I have 15 years experience, skills are in demand and my interviews went extremely well. 1. What are the salary ranges for M and SM in NYC. 2. I am told it is only going to be a M now, for my own benefit-no EY network means failure at selling. Whats the highest salary I can negotiate at M. Any other tips will be handy. I have "sold" (support on sales & new roles through relationships) plus I have solid delivery experience. I really want SM 😀😀😀 EY

Are you sure that your references are in your corner? I ask because I was recently a reference for someone and when the HR person called me, they pushed on very specific incidents which let me know that a previous reference did not give a balanced or glowing review.
That's fair and definitely something I am evaluating now. Truly in my heart of hearts thought they were. Hearing instead of the phone calls mentioned they chose for them to submit written POVs instead

@OP Just read about a type of service in another thread that checks your own references for you to find out what they might say about you. Here are a couple of options but there seem to be a lot.

9 interviews? I’ve turned down jobs after pushing for a 4th. Like, guys, there’s only so many “dentist appointments” I can fake with my current gig and keep my job.
A dentist appt, in this economy??? 😂
9 interviews?! What kind of insane company is this?
I’ve done 9 interviews recently for something and it is a grind for sure. Not sure how to feel about this process ...
Would 1000% reach out to references
With references like that who needs enemies?

Wow, that’s terrible. Did you tell your references to expect a call or were they unprepared?
I would ask the company to pass on the feedback to you under the guise of using it as a learning. As in, how else are you meant to grow and avoid making the same mistakes?
Likely, the only learning is never to use that person as a reference. But it’s one way to get to the bottom of it. If you find out the reason and it’s false, perhaps you would even have time to dispute it.
I always make sure to ask my references if they are comfortable giving a good review and have the time. That way they have an out.
We're all here to git gud right? 😉
If they're not interested in helping OP get better then we know what to do with their feedback...🚮
where are you finding all these job openings, OP?! struggling to see anything in NYC :/
What did the reference say?
They didn't share with me not the recruiter. They just said it was 'something, the only thing, that made them reconsider.'
Jesus that's a lot of hoops. FWIW this is screaming red flag to me.
I don't know your situation so I'm not going to say you're better off, but I can confidently say there are better opportunities.

Easier said than done. It is so tough to get a new job right now and there are more applicants than ever. So people are going to do what’s asked of them if they want to be considered.
I have been interviewing during this time and am finding the 7 or 8 interview thing is not unusual.
It’s compounded because ordinarily, you’d just be in their office for an afternoon, meeting all the decision makers and the team. But now there is no office so the recruiters schedule everything methodically and you end up with 10 zoom calls.
Wondering why no one has yet mentioned that doing free spec work for a company is not copacetic. Never give it away.
