I do FS audit and to be honest I hate the thought of just working my way up a PE shops internal accounting. Are there people who switch to corporate accounting at like Tech/manufacturing//construction/retail and actually like their job and what they’re doing? Can ppl make the jump to a lower level Financial analyst type role at one of these companies? I’m talking lower level, like I make 77k even taking s lay cut to 75k to pivot my job trajectory. Idk just thinking, lmk experiences please.

My boss also has me running a retired agents office until a new one is chosen (its an hour away with no pay increase or mileage pay). Also, no benefits! Should I start job searching?

I was wondering if the review course “CPE Self Study Course” for the CFF was enough preparation to study and pass the CFF exam. The CFE review course was enough and like if you get a question wrong it explains it well so that when it comes up in a different way in the real exam you can still get it. But when I saw the outline for the CFF material and there seems to be a lot of topics so I was wondering if the review course was sufficient considering this exam is also multiple choice. Thanks!

Are private companies easier to work at than public companies in accounting? We have such an accelerated close deadline at the publicly traded company I’m at now, I really hate the inflexible tight deadlines and analysis seems to drag on forever after that. We also close AP/AR very early in the month yet that doesn’t stop payments/receipts from happening so we’re constantly adjusting our accruals until the end of month. Do private companies start their close after the month actually ends?

I literally had to show someone higher rank than me probably 30ish, how to do a “find” in excel for the workbook. This isn’t limited to people who have been out of school for awhile. This also includes new hires and staff, and seniors. Partners forget about it. They probably aren’t involved at all in building out the work paperwork but I feel staff, seniors and managers should be good users
