I got no salary increase this year, the company is justifying it with a bullshit excuse (lack of communication, whilst I do a lot of work that is well done and in total autonomy). Whilst business wasn’t good this year (no acquisition or sale), not getting any salary increase feels pretty rough in the current economy.

Has anyone pushed back to get their salary indexed with the inflation? How did you do it?

What reliable sites do I use to do market research on local salaries? I want to know if I am being underpaid compared to my local market and similar positions, but don’t know where to begin.

Is negotiating offers the norm now? I’ve been at my company awhile and at the time I was hired they said they don’t do negotiations, take it or leave it and they’d offer the next person. I do believe we renegotiate now, however I’m not sure if it’s the rule, the exception, or somewhere in the middle?

I’m currently a Grade 11 at Cisco. With the recent pay structure changes my annual comp will be $150k + 12% bonus. I live in a large metro area in the middle of the US. At the biotech company I work at avg inside sales is $62,632 with a $3500 per quarter cap. Commission structure is % based on sales quota reached vs capped (not a direct % of sales). My friend received two job offers for Account Executive roles: a Mid-Market role with Confluent and an Enterprise role with ThoughtSpot. He’s conflicted because Confluent is a more established company, ThoughtSpot is Pre-IPO.
