Bain & Company Is it truly easier to get in a smaller MBB office?
Have heard a lot for different opinions on these. The logic is that it’s easier because there is a lot of supply in cities like NY, Chicago and SF, but the counter argument is that the offices with less supply are also way smaller and have a lot less demand.

I’m hard of hearing. So, asking folks to repeat or rephrase is a regular part of my day.
One of the things that helped me is watching YouTube videos with folks from that area with that accent. I still struggle with face to face but I can pick things up faster when I know where the inflections are.
If it is phone conversations, have her look into sonic cloud. Or use teams captioning.
But a hearing test might be helpful as well. Just to make sure she is hearing correctly.
The best way to do this is asking the other person the speak slowly. I am an international candidate living in the US. I have had difficulty with understanding accents. I have been upfront with others saying that, ‘There maybe times times when I may not understand you. Please be patient with me while I get accustomed to learning your accent.’ I also take genuine interest is learning people’s backgrounds and getting to know them. Building a rapport outside work increases interaction and helps in understanding each other.

I think just asking them to speak slower and extending the same coir / it’s probably an issue both ways. I think it’s just about communicating your needs… in a respectful way
“Hey sorry do you mind repeating that” eventually you/they will start understanding their accent better
I wouldn’t tell them how to speak (slowly:-( ). I would take that a bit insulting. I would be honest and just let them know that I’m having a hard time. If you have a good working relationship with mutual respect the person will appreciate your honesty.
