Thoughts on the new CPA exam changes?
PwC’s impact event is a disaster...
Thinking of leaving audit after my second busy season . My main interest in accounting was always the forensic line but got recruited for audit. Now I feel this is the best time to transition. Any advice for someone who wants to start with CPE route instead of CPA (did it a couple of time and did not pass) seeing it as a sign to go for my main interest. Also do I look for position as senior or just Associate. PwC EY KPMG Deloitte
CMA worth it if I have a CPA already?

Revenue accountant sounds like you're getting pigeonholed and leaving before being a senior. I would say your career trajectory is not favorably impacted if so.

Are you really saying that someone who takes a revenue accounting job would be pigeonholed to that area of accounting?
It really depends on what the role entails. I left for a pre ipo startup accounting team and focus on revenue, which means I work with large data sets and do a lot of analytical work around revenue to make sure our revenue numbers are correctly captured. I like the data aspects of it and consider it way more interesting than a cost accountant. It really depends on what the role is carved out for
I guess in this case this role is more like revenue analyst? Do you think revenue analyst has potential to be transitioned to finance related works?
Definitely not a good idea.
even the name itself is a warning to me. exit opportunities...mhmmm.. maybe something related to reporting? like audit manager 1 said you would get pigeonholed.
to each their own, but I would be a little disappointed if I did my time in B4 Audit and left for a revenue accountant role.
you’re going to have to provide more detail on the role, but I agree with the general sentiment in this thread. sounds like you surge pigeonholing your self.

What exactly is the current status of your audit role? Are you having a good/reasonable/learning experience, but just having to work a lot and so you want to move? Or are you having issues with toxicity in your engagement teams such that you aren't able to develop?
