Any advice on breaking out of accounting roles? I am in restructuring which I thought would be more interesting strategy work but it’s been just compliance, legal, little modeling. Corporate roles don’t seem to have any interest in the experience either.

What do Account Coordinator titles mean? I work at an agency with the AAE, AE, SAE, AS, SAS, VP ladder. Would love some perspective on on alternative titles & their responsibilities.

To the folks who pivoted from tech consulting pre-MBA to IB/PE post- graduation, how has your experience been? What would have been helpful for you to have known prior to making the switch?

I work in sales as a coordinator and do a bunch of paperwork with customers online. I LOVE PEOPLE but dread going to work everyday (wfh 3x a week) because the environment is toxic. I just found out that the only positive manager on my team is leaving. I am spiraling. I have a BS in Health Science (no chemistry classes taken and minimal biology education). After working 5+ years and letting life happen, I ended up back with a staff title (no career/group change). Everyone said I was doing well throughout my career. But most of peers are now managers, senior managers, directors, controllers, etc. I really don’t want to compare, but how do I deal with this so it doesn’t bother me? At the end of the interview, the person told me I passed the interview and they were going to talk to the Director who’s a level under them. It’s a yes for them and they’re happy to work with me.

Which offer should I accept? Currently staff 2 at big 4 in Tax with CPA license. I want to leave tax ASAP. Both are public companies +1B in revenue and same salary. Offer 1 - staff revenue accountant so reading contracts, speaking with the sales team and legal team, a lot of work at the end of the months to close books and reconcile transactions to make sure we are ASC 606 compliant. This track usually leads to director of revenue. Offer 2 - internal audit staff so SOX and compliance projects.
