My vet said grain free is linked to cardiomyopathy in dogs so he was vehemently opposed to grain free diet
Please please please don’t feed your dog grain free foods. It leads to DCM (https://todaysveterinarypractice.com/study-grain-free-diet-for-dogs-leads-to-canine-heart-disease/). I feed my golden Purina Pro Plan (PPP) Sensitive Skin and Stomach (it is fish based). For a puppy, they have a PPP chicken-free formula as well.
Please everyone research DCM — it is terrible to hear about owners learning about it too late.
Oh, I thought I read that OP said their pup has a chicken allergy but that was someone else. Also, I pretty much assume all Goldens do.
OP If your pup is good with chicken, no reason to limit it. Just keep an eye out for an itchy belly.
my puppy loves the Blue Buffalo Puppy Life Protection formula!
Can we see a picture 🥰
@D1: 👋🏼 aww

Listen to your vet - I tried Fromm’s grain free and it didn’t agree and we ended up on Science Diet sensitive skin [which has both chicken and grain]. no one right food for all dogs.
Purina pro puppy blend was fantastic for my wheaten puppy! Recommended by my vet and perfect for sensitive belly
Purina pro is a more high quality / expensive version of the brand. Between my vet rec and having never read a bad thing about it online I feel very comfortable feeding it to my dog

I give him dry food because he never liked can food. I give him Acana.
My dogs' vet is against grain free food unless the dog has an actual grain allergy.
Second everyone’s comment on not going with grain free! The Tufts vet school has a great blog on pet food if you really want to dig into it!
