I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?
Anyone worried about layoffs?

I've been interviewing with some companies, and now I have to decide between JPMorgan Chase and Globant.
Globant is more innovative, and has remote work. I will enter to work with a Sillicon Valley startup based in San Francisco. The tech stack is React, Nextjs, AWS, and a serverless architecture.
JPM is semi remote, and less innovative. The tech stack Java, SpringBoot and AWS. But I'd do more migration tasks, like dockerize projects and pass them to kubernetes. What would you choose?

Can’t speak to Fidelity investments but… sometimes when companies are trying to cut costs they just lay people off that are making too much money (tenured employees with a pension, etc.). Then shortly after they re-list the role with a lower salary band or make it contract only to avoid paying them benefits.
A lot of companies have had layoffs since the start of the year. Depending on how many people where let go, they might have to wait for a few months before they can refill those positions. Though, in general, there will be fewer jobs after the layoff.
