I wouldn’t stop by any means but going for that cpa is a great option. Don’t put it off
Doing both is a bit of a headache especially since I'm not a great test taker 😭
You should join Naba, prepare your resume and go network as hard as possible. I got my first job because of NABA. Goto the events especially the big conferences. You can private message me and I will start referring you to recruiters.
Thank you so much!!
Congrats!! What area of ‘Accounting’ you looking to break into as well as what living area? I am in Tax. Also, ABSOLUTELY get the CPA. I messed around and did not get it early on, got my E.A., and now I find myself having to get it to make manager.
Congrats to you as well! I've had experience and internships in auditing and accounting for small businesses
Ideally you should’ve did recruiting before graduating. Polish that resume and LinkedIn.
I could submit ur resume, did you already apply for EY?
I have and I've been rejected twice (in undergrad and post graduating)
First of all congrats on you graduating, do you have your 150 credits? If you don’t than you should get it.
Yeah, I have all 150 credits!
If you can afford to delay working full time until you complete the exams, I STRONGLY recommend doing so. I passed all my exams prior to starting my career in PA and I am so happy I did. A lot of my peers at the time struggled! The jobs will be there!! This is coming from someone who’s income has grown significantly over the past 5 years. I am industry now making 6 figures and was only in PA for less than 2.5 years. Good luck with whichever path you take!
Dm me if you want a GT opportunity
Thank you!!
I know a Howard grad that majored in accounting. DM me
Will do, thank you!

Let me know if you'd like a shot at BDO. Also, you looking at DC or somewhere else?
I would prefer remote but I'm open at this point!
Thank you so much accounting fam, y'all really came through for me and I do appreciate this community! 😭
This is a choice you have to make based on the direction you plan to go with your career. If you plan to go into Big4 or external accounting or audit then it would be a big plus. Also, you would start between $10k + higher than your peers without it. If you plan to do Internal Audit you might want to consider CIA or CISA.
Look and see if you like any of these jobs. https://www.ignet.gov/careers
I would say if you have the means to not work right now and study and pass the CPA exam I absolutely would
Once you start work you’ll never stop right so ideally you’ll never have time like now to really focus on the exam and once you pass you’ll definitely get offers better to invest the time now if you can!
