I just learned Accenture doesn’t have any holiday parties because it’s “too expensive”. It says a lot about how they value us.:.

I’m a Accen00b - just joined a couple weeks ago. But someone on my team told me that regional offices all organize their own thing for the holidays- some of the offices do a gift while others do a party, etc.

We have a networking event every other week, I appreciate keeping holiday parties to family and friends outside of work only.

When I was in industry we had a holiday party without booze. A company party without booze is not a party, it’s a meeting.

This is hilarious....to read of course, not for you at the time.

1) it’s a public company
2) company parties are usually lame, I’d much rather spend my precious time with people I care about

Your value is represented in your salary, roles, and responsibilities. 3 hours of catered food and drinks shouldn’t be where you receive value from.

Been to my share of ACN holiday parties. Mostly project or regional office parties. But as many have said, I don’t care one way or the other about a holiday party. It’s nice to socialize with work friends but at the end of the day I would rather see their appreciation expressed by increases in pay and recognition.

In the UK there are big holiday parties. We hired out a ballroom in the Savoy Hotel 2 years ago, was a great night.

i’ve been too plenty of holiday parties. extravagant and modest - i think it’s an ok time, but don’t care anymore. have it i’ll come. if not - who cares

I was a partner there. We did smaller informal practice events. There is $ available for that sort of thing.

I love a good party not at my expense. There are usually project parties, some office holiday parties - and in SF we usually throw a good may/June bash!

Accenture is cheap as hell. I wanted out as soon as I saw the POS computers they give us at orientation.

They have parties - trust me I am on pmo for a large project; it’s all about the description as well as covering costs across projects directly instead of Time reports. I am seeing more parties happening now before holiday rush. I like a community meeting and a quick happy hour - get some swag and I am a happy camper.

A11 - if this is such a big deal to you, why are you still here?

We had a holiday party??

Unless your office is smaller and doesnt

I’m a new associate to a T&E group, partner goes away on vacation and leaves me with a 706 to review and sign. The family is very wealthy. Decedent married for 60 years. Partner says it’s “just a DSUE election, decedent was ill for years, no assets.” Provides no records. Not even an admission the decedent owned a toothbrush. So I looked up the decedent’s home - it’s a joint asset. Partner was “surprised”, and still insists “no other assets”. I found file references to art and antiques.

Any United health group remote employees here? I recently accepted an accounting job and some of the onboard makes it seem like I’m only allowed to work from my home office. I usually spend a few weeks a year out of town visiting family and work during this time so I don’t have to use PTO but I’m nervous I won’t be allowed to do that anymore

Maybe this sounds privileged.. or plain dumb... I just got back from a really fun vacation and I’m sad! Guess i got the “back to real life” blues. How do I get back to my happy self!??

Hey CGI folks, from where can I see current year holiday list for 2021 in India?

Starting a new job next month, and considering taking two days off for kids’ spring break next month. Not sure whether it’s appropriate to request time off for a new job (I would’ve preferred not to take any time off for first three months). I may just be able to just ask for a single Friday off (so 1 day rather than 2 days).

Any thoughts on whether I should proceed with the request? I just came from big law and want to make sure I’m not making a bad impression on my colleagues.

For all you retail people...are you experiencing a very slow holiday season? I am a retail manager and I feel like this season has been freakishly slow. I thought we would at least match last year's number or be up a little bit but we are trending down. I talked to employees of other stores in the mall and they are saying the same thing. Is anyone else experiencing this in their market?

Serious question from a happy software engineer, what do you all love about your work/actually enjoy doing during working hours?

I'll start; I'm privileged enough to have been given the opportunity to work and learn deeply on Linux and Kubernetes, and I get to tinker and play with them all day. Problem solving with them is a "fun" part of my job.

Of course most things aren't roses and sunshine, but I'd love to hear the positive parts of what you are doing, or what you like to do at work.
