I just started with the firm and it's my first time having a 401k. I logged into Vanguard and noticed there were no employer contributions, but I am putting aside the right percentage for it to be matched. Am I missing something?

Deloitte only matches at year end, so you wont see anything now

like

Ohh! Thank you so much! I was worried haha

Some might take a few pay cycles to kick in.

like

Also each employer has different policies on when they deposit the match it’s not always at the same time as your contribution, some do it quarterly or annually

like

Was going to mention that, my employer does it annually in July and it’s definitely not preferred.

like

Deloitte matches annually at the end of each fiscal year. You won’t see your match until then

Thank you! :)

Thank you! :)

Not all employers match. Are you sure yours does?

like

When does matching start? At many companies it’s after a certain tenure. Over a year at ACN.

Then when im scoped over work that my CD and I oversee, some people are asking me how does my role differ from the CD’s, as they tend to look at me as an unnecessary layer for approvals. In a way, i do the job so well that i get asked to do more AD projs and guide more projs — but then: wtf does my CD do? They mostly just 👍🏻what i direct n approve

So I just came out at my small firm in a small southern town. Historically, I haven’t discussed my personal life at work— but I had to give notice anyway. I told the partners I’m moving to be with my boyfriend. It was a surprisingly lovely conversation given that I’m at a firm of rich old men, deep in the heart of Tr*mp country.

Also, how much time will it take for all the process to happen ( screening + interview + final discussion).

Thanks in advance

Would I still be able to get the benefits of being a first home buyer when that time comes? Or will the mortgage disqualify me? Is it too late in our lives to jump into a mortgage?

So my fiancée and I are relatively late in terms of finally landing well paying jobs and being able to save money instead of living paycheck to paycheck. We’re both 36 and currently rent a 2 bedroom in NY and have a combined savings of $35,000 which she wants to use as a down payment on a condo. I kinda just wanna continue saving while renting. I also literally just started contributing to my 401K so I’m also late in the game for that too.

Need help on how to invest. We are positioned to pay off our house later this year. Expect to work for another ~20 years. 401k fully funded and have some company stock investments maturing over the next few years, but no investments outside of that. Kids have a prepaid college plan for certain schools. Emergency fund is solid. Where should I look to start investing? I have fidelity for my 401k, would they be good to open a taxable investment account with, or are there better options?
