I know I have an HSA, but haven’t used yet. How do I check the balance/use this? I think I probably have $600+ and will most likely need it soon for dental expenses

Your HSA is managed by fidelity, you should be able to access it by going to the same site as your 401k. Once you activate your hsa account t online they will sent you a debit card you can use to pay for expenses or submit for reimbursement .

like

Edited - if it's HSA no need to spend it down like you would for an FSA. Just let it roll until you need it.

To get a reimbursement you should be able to log in to your account and request reimbursement.

If you don't know where your account is go to your firms benefit page to see who they use. From there you should be able to navigate to the site and follow the instructions to create an account or figure out your username.

I have a HSA card but just pay with CC for points and then request reimbursement.

I do not have a fsa card.

Thanks SM 1. This is a big help. Do most HSAs give a card that I can use to pay so I don’t have to go the reimbursement route? I don’t have a personal credit card to use.

Fidelity offers a debit card, but you have to ask for it after your account is set up.

Context: Married with first baby on the way. Plan is for my spouse to stay home with our (future) kids for next few years. My income is $250-300K and keeping it that way for a while as I’ve moved off partner track for at least 2-3 years as we start our family.

$120K in retirement accounts, $70K in cash, $50K in home equity, and $6K in HSA

Beyond mortgage, only debt is a $25K private loan that we can pay back any time in next 5 yrs. and isn’t accruing interest.

Under contract for nearly 1.1M. Wife and I are at HHI $315k. Will go up in the future, $400k in 3 years and $500k possible in 5-7 years. We have $300k in non-retirement funds, $260k of which will go towards acquiring the house. We have 2 kids and will probably reduce (not maxing) retirement accounts next 18 months to do this. Anyone have any thoughts or feedback? We’ll have to live on a budget and watch but I feel we’ll get used to it and income will grow.

At highest point, I had $315k in crypto. After last 6 months of downturn, Celsius and Voyager, all I'm left off is with 40k. I feel so stupid when I think about it. Original investment of 190k. Lost 150k that I can't tell to anyone, even my wife. I don't want her to go through the same level of dismay as me.

We earn good, have decent cars and home. I know I and my family are going to be fine, but still !!!

Share your investment debacle and cheer me up please...

We have been in NYC for a little while with kids (2/4 yo, we are 33 yo) and even if we are financially well-off, it feels like we can’t buy a house for our lives. We are in the legal industry but potentially could work remotely forever.

Anyone found a city they love outside of NYC where buying a house is doable? We love the diversity we can find in NYC (food, international communities). Any recommendations of cities to look at? Not interested in suburbanish settings.
