Partner One

I managed to get a phone call scheduled with a partner and MD in MBB through my network. I would like to get a referral for an open role. What are the do's and dont's for a conversation like this?

My game plan is to first build a rapport, give my "elevator pitch" on my background (crafted to match the description of the role), ask about what the firm expects of people at that level, and finally if they felt I was a fit and if so, would they be comfortable referring me. Am I nuts for trying to get a referral this way? I understand a partner referral doesn't guarantee an offer, but if I feel I have a decent shot if I can get in front of people for the interview/case studies.

partner referral will probably get you an interview but probably will not impact how you get evaluated in the interview...

If anyone wants to join a boutique HR & Talent Advisory consulting firm, Kincentric is hiring for an Associate Partner role! Location doesn’t really matter, but preferably in IL, NY, or ATL.
