McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

Sign on bonuses are discretionary and depend on the market and competition for the role at any given time. When quality candidates outnumber roles they are less likely to give sign on bonuses as they don’t need to
The only time I've really seen sign-on bonuses is where the person joining is losing a bonus at the old firm, and we try and compensate for that, or where the salary level is broadly similar for the same grade to try and sweeten the deal.
Yes it is normal. Just go back and ask about it.
Agreed with EY1 I was waiting for my bonus before moving to the next firm but the firm wanted me to started early so I asked them to match.
I got one starting at the senior level.
Sounds like a breach of their oral offer. Ask for it, if they duck then walk.
I didn’t think firms still did signing bonuses
